Always at the end of the year it is a time to reflect. In Roman times New Years was in September- that seems to make more sense especially if you are a student.
I have had some great conversations in 2006. Poets seem to like to discuss lifestyle allot. Unlike other professions one's personal life and personal choices are often under scritiny in Poetry.
2006 was a mixed year- the war continues and this colors everything deeply. I have argued that
2006 is really allot like 1901. In that year Britain the America of that era 'won' the Boer War. Britain was the center of the world- but a new power (USA) and others (Germany) were nipping at there heels. They thought they ruled the world and were unchallenged. That is where we are are now. The USA is unchallenged but the world is changing and the 21st Century I fear is someone else's.
